Direct Debit Questions and Answers

How does it work?
Direct Debit can be set up to spread the cost of your holiday over a period of months. The balance of the holiday is equally split between the months from the time you set up the Direct Debit to when the last payment is due.

Is Direct Debit only for the lead passenger?
Yes.

Is there a charge for this service?
There’s no extra cost to you for paying by Direct Debit.

What packages are eligible?
In order to be eligible for Direct Debit, your holiday booking needs to be made at least 182 days – 26 weeks – before departure. Direct Debit is available on most holidays.

Which holidays is direct debit available on?
Direct Debit is available on all TUI UK holidays, including TUI Multi Centres, and all First Choice beach holidays. It’s also available on all holidays booked with Marella Cruises and Lakes & Mountains. It’s not available on First Choice Multi Centres, TUI Ireland holidays, Crystal Ski holidays or flight only bookings.

Do I need to pay a deposit before setting this up?
Yes and on selected holidays there is a low deposit of £50 per person.

Is Direct Debit available on all TUI holidays, even if the airline I’m flying with isn’t TUI Airways?
Yes.

How do I set up a Direct Debit?
When you book your holiday, simply choose the ‘Deposit and Direct Debit’ option on the payment page. Once the deposit is paid, you’ll be able to set up your Direct Debit on the confirmation page. You can also set this up in the ‘Manage My Booking’ portal on our website at least 182 days before departure, even if you didn’t originally select this option on the payment page.

Can I choose the amount of instalments?
No, the amount of instalments is calculated automatically based on the date of your booking and the departure date. There’ll be a minimum of three instalments

Can I change the day the Direct Debit instalment is taken?
You can choose the day of the month the Direct Debit comes out.

When is the last payment due?
The last payment is due six weeks before your go on holiday. If you cancel the direct debit at any time you will need to pay the balance due 12 weeks before you travel.

Please Note, if you booked between 17/03/20-31/05/20 you have until 4 weeks before your departure to pay your balance.

I’ve booked my holiday in my local TUI Holiday Store. Why can’t I pay via Direct Debit to spread the cost?
Direct Debit is currently unavailable for bookings made in our TUI Holiday Stores.

Can I pay off some of my balance in store?
No – just as, currently, you can’t pay your balance in store if you booked online.

I’ve finished paying my Direct Debits. I’m departing within 98 days and I want to add Premium Seats/Select Your Seat/Late check-out on to my booking. Why can’t I pay by Direct Debit?
98 days is the cut-off for us to collect your final Direct Debit, before you travel.

First Choice - holidays from £299Can I make any ad-hoc payments, even though I’m paying by Direct Debit?
Yes. You can make payments through our website and our Contact Centres – your Direct Debit payments will be recalculated accordingly. You can’t make payments in TUI Holiday Stores

I’ve changed my bank, using a bank switching process. Do I need to do anything to make sure my holiday is paid for?
Your bank is performing the switch and should notify us accordingly.

I can see you’re working with Experian. Why?
We work with Experian to make sure your address and bank account match, to reduce the risk of fraud

What happens to my Direct Debit payments and refunds if I cancel?
This will work the same as other holiday payments. If you cancel your booking, you will receive the refund you’re due, based on our standard booking terms and conditions.

I want to move my holiday to later in the year. What would happen to my Direct Debit payments?
Any change in cost will be recalculated, based on the current number of months until your holiday.

I want to change my holiday so I’m travelling sooner. What would happen to my Direct Debit payments?
If you move your holiday to a closer date, then your Direct Debit might not be valid and you may be required to pay the full balance of the holiday, dependent on how far away the new departure date is.

I’ve been asked by TUI/Marella Cruises to move my holiday to later in the year. What would happen to my Direct Debit payments?
Any change in cost will be recalculated, based on the current number of months until your holiday.

I’ve been asked by TUI/Marella Cruises to change my holiday so I’m travelling sooner, but still outside of 98 days. What would happen to my Direct Debit payments?
Depending on how many payments have already been made, your payment schedule and the Direct Debit amounts will be amended, so that you pay your holiday balance sooner.

I’ve been asked by TUI/Marella Cruises to change my holiday so I’m travelling sooner, inside of 98 days. What would happen to my Direct Debit payments?
You will need to pay the remaining balance of your holiday at the time of making the change.

Please Note, if you booked between 17/03/20-31/05/20 you have until 4 weeks before your departure to pay your balance.
